We at Diversity Press would like to take the time to lift up, recognize, and stand by a true hero and champion for equality and justice in Indianapolis. That hero is Tamara Cypress, the creator of Indy Black Businesses Matter.
Tamara started a campaign to help promote and advocate black businesses through storytelling, networking, and marketing. In an article published by The Indy Star, she said her goal is to make Indianapolis a better place to live and work by raising awareness of new and existing Black businesses. The report went on to say, “Cypress hopes the businesses can improve their economic outcomes and add fuel to the local economy.”
In her mission for this campaign, she seeks to share the names, faces, and stories of the entrepreneurs running these black businesses so that people will feel their passion while seeing what they have to offer and support these innovative Black Businesses by purchasing from them.
Tamara is amazingly accomplished. She received the Governor’s Indiana Civil Rights Commission and Indiana Black Expo, Inc. award for business and entrepreneurship. And she was also recognized by the Indianapolis Business Journal as one of their “Forty Under 40” business leaders.

Tamara, we applaud you and thank you for your tireless work!
