5 Ways to “Green Up” Print Projects

Can print help make the world a better place? At Diversity Press, we certainly think so! Choosing a partner like Diversity Press means you’re helping make the world better on multiple levels. You’re working with diverse partners while also taking steps towards sustainability. To help you shrink your environmental footprint when using printing as part of your marketing approach, try these five easy steps!

  1. Partner with a printer who supports sustainable manufacturing

Choose a printer who actively works to support sustainable printing, manufacturing, and more. As a member of the Priority Group, Diversity Press is FSC® Certified and G7 Certified. That means that our paper has followed a sustainable chain of custody, from responsibly managed forests to our printing floor. And our G7 color management methodology helps shrink our environmental footprint by efficiently matching press sheets to proofs, lowering paper waste for make-readies.

Diversity Press recycles paper, corrugate, plates, wooden pallets, and unused inks. We choose environmentally-friendly materials as often as possible, including soy and vegetable-based offset inks and papers manufactured with 10% post-consumer waste.

  1. Consider print-on-demand

One of the easiest ways to go green is simply to reduce waste! That’s what makes print-on-demand an appealing option, both from a financial and a sustainability standpoint. With print-on-demand, you only print what you need when you need it – no more and no less.

Print-on-demand also allows you to eliminate out-of-date materials and over-production. This solution avoids waste, but it keeps your materials up-to-date at all times and saves money – who doesn’t love that?

  1. Choose FSC Materials

When you choose an FSC Certified printer like Diversity Press, you can rest assured that your projects support a sustainable way of printing and manufacturing materials. The certification comes from the Forest Stewardship Council, which certifies printers and papers that meet specific standards of responsibility.

FSC Certified paper comes from a “chain of custody” system that ensures the products have been handled in a sustainable manner from start to finish. Before a consumer picks up a product labeled FSC Certified, every company that touched the forest product material must be FSC certified.

  1. Ask for green options for signage and displays

Signage and displays can be sustainable, too – you’d be surprised at what we can do! At Diversity Press, our standard printing paper includes post-consumer waste, meaning that every piece includes at least some recycled materials. There are also 100% recycled papers made, which can also be used as part of a “green” solution.

There are plenty of environmentally-friendly options for signage and displays, and we are happy to make recommendations.

  1. Green up direct mail

Want to make your direct mail strategy more sustainable? Work with Diversity’s mailing experts on an advanced data hygiene strategy. The idea is simple: you can reduce waste by diving deeper into list clean-up to get rid of undeliverable addresses and hard-to-catch dups. Plus, list clean-up also reduces your print quantities and postage costs while increasing deliverability rates. It’s a win for the planet, your budget, and your marketing ROI!
